Abstract in English: This study highlights the area of knowledge management as a mediating variable for the influence between the applications of artificial intelligence on human resource leaders and the development of human capital. This is, as the main research problem, to address the amplifications of the fourth industrial revolution and the knowledge acceleration of smart education systems, and focus on the investment of human capital rather than physical assets. In this context, this research aims to find out the direct impact of the artificial intelligence applications in the development of human capital and the knowledge management in the Ministry of Education (MoE) in the Sultanate of Oman. It, also, aims to identify the most influential variables in the development of human capital amongst the artificial intelligence applications and knowledge management. The research sample involved (290) leaders of human resources within the MoE in Oman. The researcher employed the descriptive predictive research approach where the results were analyzed by using the structural equation modelling, through confirmatory factor analysis, to calculate truthfulness and reliability in addition to using the total measurement model to find the relationship between the variables through AMOS software. The research results, based on the variables analysis; the independent variable, the following variable and the mediating variable, showed that the degree of the application of artificial intelligence by the human resources leaders was average with regards to the theme of the availability of experts and that the application degree of the themes pertaining to the system capacity, the training and the development, the user’s behaviour and the ready knowledge was very high. Also, the application degree of all the themes related to the dimensions of the knowledge by the human resources leaders was high whereas their application degree of the themes of the human resources capital development was average in the themes of evaluation and follow-up, knowledge, development of competencies and development of training programmes In addition, the results found that there is a weak positive and direct impact of the artificial intelligence software in knowledge management and human capital development too. It also found a strong positive and direct impact of the knowledge management in the human capital development and that the impact of the artificial intelligence software in the human capital development transfers entirely through the mediating variable of knowledge management. Most importantly, the research concluded that the knowledge management has the most influential impact on the development of human capital in comparison with the impact of artificial intelligence applications. In conclusion, the research suggested several recommendations to the policy makers in the educational system.
