Year: | 2021 | Publisher: | Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2021 | Abstract in English: | Malaysian tourism industry has great potential in attracting and providing high-quality services for tourists. From previous studies related to Arabic language for tourism purposes, there were no courses that could contribute to the development of Malaysian tourism sector, as well as designing courses or conducting training courses. Therefore, there is a need for the current research to analyse the needs of the students who are studying tourism and hospitality courses. This study was carried out to find out student tourism and hospitality needs in learning Arabic, the most important Arabic language skills and the most difficult Arabic language skills. This research used descriptive and analytical surveys method. The researcher has distributed the questionnaires to 111 students in tourism and hospitality using a non-random sampling method. The key findings from this research are the students need to listen and speak with Arab foreign students as well as they need to read texts, signs, rules, notice, fill in the form and write instructions using Arabic language. The most important language skills in learning Arabic for students specializing in tourism and hospitality is listening skills. The most difficult language skills in learning Arabic for students specializing in tourism and hospitality is speaking skills. It is suggested from the findings that International Islamic University Malaysia should prepare suitable materials or courses for teaching Arabic for tourism and hospitality courses in the College of Languages and Administration to meet the needs of students and the tourism sector. | Call Number: | t PJ 6066 S6236T 2021 | Kullliyah: | Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development | Programme: | Master of Arts Teaching Arabic for Specific Purposes | URI: | http://studentrepo.iium.edu.my/handle/123456789/11122 |
