This thesis applies linguistic differences to Qur?anic verses through linguistic distinctions made by Ab? Hil?l Al-?Askar? in his book “Al-Fur?q Al-Lughawiyyah” from an exegetical perspective. It employs the linguistic differentiation method by highlighting the theoretical basis. Al-?Askar?’s book was specifically selected based on its scholarly value, chronological precedent, the authority of al-Askar?’s writings, and his influence on subsequent authors. Many well-established scholars relied on al-?Askar?’s book for linguistic differentiation wherein he mentions nearly a thousand linguistic differences. However, he does not always highlight the impact of these differences on Qur?anic meanings. This void prompted the researcher to apply a selection of differentiations to Qur?anic verses to highlight the rhetorical miracle within Qur?anic linguistic differentiation. Based on the analytical approach, the impact of linguistic differences by contemplating the Qur?anic verses is pursued. The thesis has concluded the following: Founded within the Qur?an and Sunnah, linguistic differentiation is an established tafsir method. To varying degrees, linguists and exegetes both employ it. It is rooted within the traditions of the companions, their followers, and those who followed them. Ab? Hil?l is its pioneer as he codified the criteria for differentiating between words with great precision. Many exegetes have greatly benefited from him. However, much of what he wrote in this book requires application and study. This science continues to mature at the hands of contemporary scholars. Lastly, scholars have many ways to indicate the near-synonymity and differences between words. Finally, it is recommended that this science be further developed, collected, theorized, and applied to Qur?anic words and that its notables, sources, and references be further studied to serve the Qur?an. This, effectively, is the preservation of and contemplation on the Qur?an.
