Title: | Evaluating how rural and urban English school teachers accommodating international textbooks to Malaysian context | Authors: | Nur Fazlena Mohd Yusof | Supervisor: | Mohamad Ridhuan Abdullah, Ph.D | Year: | 2023 | Publisher: | Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2023 | Abstract in English: | This research explored how rural and urban English school teachers accommodating international textbooks to Malaysian context. The research consists of three main research questions and 20 items was used to collect data from six conveniently selected participants from rural and urban English school teachers. To answer the research question, semi-structured interview and thematic analysis were employed. Research findings indicate that regardless of school regions either in rural or urban areas, English school teachers and students were having difficulties to use Pulse 2 Book for English lesson due to high level content in the textbook that require higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) beyond students’ ability to think. We have found the teachers were having excessive workload to be completed which could also affect their physical and mental health. Results from this research reveals that demographic background has significant influence on the accommodating international textbooks to Malaysian context. The result also indicated all respondents agreed that the Pulse 2 book should be modified according to students’ need and interest in Malaysia. | Kullliyah: | Kulliyyah of Education | Programme: | Master of Education | URI: | http://studentrepo.iium.edu.my/handle/123456789/11955 |
