Abstract in English: This research tries to discuss the ethics of charitable work in Islam. In the second chapter, it covers the following contents: the definition of charitable work, its goals and motives, its effects on the individual and society, a historical view of charitable work in Islam, and the ethics of charitable work in Islam by looking at the parties of the charitable work: the volunteer, the institution, the means, and the beneficiary. The third chapter introduces the personality of Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait, his life, and his efforts in charitable work. In the fourth chapter, the discussion about situations and events that show the extent to which Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait applies the ethics of charitable work. This research aims to highlight the ethics that a volunteer should administer and the extent of applying these ethics by Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait and his foundation: “The Direct Aid Society.” The researcher used several approaches in this study, the most important of which are: the descriptive method, and the analytical method. This study reached several results. First, the roots of the Islamic Ummah in charitable work and its interest in it. Second, the importance of carrying out such ethics by the volunteer. Third, Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait adheres to these ethics in a large percentage. Fourth, the great benefits that the volunteer and charitable institutions reap through the application of these ethics become evident.
